Is jaggery Helpful To Treat Diabetes?

Most of the diabetic patients avoid sugar in their diet completely and think to replace it with jaggery, if you are also doing so, then you have stepped in a wrong way. Even though jaggery has many medical properties and can be used as non sweetener, does it really helpful and safe to treat diabetes?

Many people believe that jaggery can give you relief from diabetes. But it is not safe, because even though it is loaded with number of vitamins, minerals and nutrients it is often considered as sugar itself.

It doesn’t affect the body as sugar does, but the problem comes with sucrose present in jaggery. It is easily absorbed in to the body and does increase the levels of sugar spikes.

The one and only difference between sugar and jaggary is that, sugar works faster when compared with jaggery. Jaggery works very slowly, this it is not good for health and it cannot treat diabetes, in fact it increases the blood sugar levels same like sugar.

Sugar contains calories, because it undergoes crystallization process and loses all its nutrients.

While jaggary is loaded with number of nutritious, because it doesn’t undergo any crystallization process and contain an ingredient called molasses.

Molasses is nutrient rich byproduct of the sugar making material. It is easily removed in refined sugar and easily retained in jaggery.

Well, diabetes has no permanently cure, but it can be well managed with proper diet. The following are some tips and precautions  that need to be followed if you have diabetes.

As we all know exercise will keep us fit and healthy. It also helps to burn calories and even controls your blood sugar levels. Exercising regularly will definitely make difference in your diabetes.

Make sure you follow healthy diet suggested by your doctor. Take foods which are rich in fiber and avoid foods with high glycemix index.
