How to Use Olive Oil for Head Lice

These 3 home remedies are very effective for head lice and it will not only get rid of the head lice from your hair but also make you hair well nourish.
1 Olive Oil (to get rid of Head Lice):
Applying olive oil to your hair, it will make your hair smother that suffocate the head lice, make it easier to remove the head lice while the time of combing your hair. The following is the home remedy to get rid of head lice using olive oil.
Remedy:
- Take olive oil and apply it enough on your hair till your hair become dry by massaging it methodically on your scalp.
- Warp or twist your head with shower cap or plastic bag and then take a towel and warp it on your head.
- After warping your hair with a towel leave it for about over a night or at least 8 hours.
- Now remove the towel and plastic bag or shower cap, after that place this same towel on your shoulders.
- Comb the hairs carefully for few minutes till you get rid of the traces of head lice.
- Lastly, rinse your hair with the soft shampoo that is followed by the conditioner.
- For effective results repeat the same process with in every 4 days.
Note: you can also mix ½ cup of olive oil and conditioner with a minute quantity of liquid soap. Now apply this on your scalp, massage it for few minutes and leave it for 1 hour. After that rinse off with soft shampoo and comb your hair methodically to get rid of head lice.
2 Olive Oil (With Apple Cider Vinegar):
Apple cider vinegar is having acetic acid in it and also some other acids which are helpful for killing the lice and removing them efficiently. The combination of apple cider vinegar with olive oil is the best combination which will be clearing the head lice and its nits (eggs lay by the female lice).
Remedy:
- Take olive oil and apple cider vinegar in equal quantities and mix it well.
- After it is well stirred, apply this mixture on your hair and scalp.
- Now cover your head with a plastic bag or shower cap and leave it for 1 hour.
- Once the 1 hour is complete you can rinse your hair with a soft shampoo that is followed by the conditioner and comb you hair.
- Repeat this same process at least once in a week to get rid of this embarrassing problem.
Note: you can also mix few drops of tea tree oil with in olive oil and apply it on the scalp and hair. After applying it, leave it for 1 hour and use apple cider vinegar as a final rinse then comb your hair and repeat the same for good results.
3 Olive Oil (with Tea Tree Oil):
The combination of tea tree oil and olive oil is a great mixture which is very good for clearing the head lice. Tea tree oil is having insecticidal properties that will kill the head lice.
The smell of tea tree oil is very strong which is helping to repel the lice from transferring from one person to another person. This mixture will be helping to liquefy the sticky texture (connects the nits and hair shafts) and thus it makes it easy to remove the head lice and its nits (eggs) from the hair while combing.
Remedy:
- Mix 1 tablespoon of tea tree oil and 3 tablespoons of olive oil in any 1 of the natural shampoo.
- Stir this well and apply it on the scalp and cover it with a shower cap.
- After 30-40 minutes wash off your hair with lukewarm water.
- Now comb your hair to eliminate the dead lice from your hair.
- Repeat this same process twice in a week for good results.
Note: you can also mix few drops of lavender essential oil with olive oil and tea tree oil and stir these three oils mixture well and then you can apply it on your scalp and hair. Leave it for few hours or over a night to eliminate the lice.
